Christian Gering (Pueblo of San Felipe) to represent the USA at the 2018 Salomon Ultra Running Academy in Hong Kong (11/25/18 - 12/6/18)
Many miles have been covered for me to be receiving this amazing opportunity. As a Katishtya'meh man, I firmly believe that I have the chance to share and show other young Pueblo runners the importance of running as a sport, but as a way of life. A way to connect beyond the physiological benefits or records, but to why running makes us who we are.
So on November 25th I will be traveling to Hong Kong to participate in Salomon's 2018 Ultra Running Academy. I will join 9 other international runners for a week long trail running intensive focused on building community, a brand, training plans, and tips of the trade. At the end of the academy I will toe the line on Sunday, December 2nd at the Lantau 50k and will be participating in my first international race. There I will be a representative not only to the USA, but more importantly to the people of Katishtya and all of Indian Country.
Throughout this whole year I have had tremendous support from my family, friends, and loved ones. But most importantly, Andrea has held me down throughout this journey. She is an integral part of my success and has believed in me from when I first had the courage to say I wanted to run a 100 kilometers. I want to share in this experience with her and would fulfill a promise I made to her, that we would travel the world together one day. Now is that time! Plus I could also use her help at the race on the Lantau 50. She is an amazing partner and an amazing crew.

The funds raised will be split between the both of us to aid in enriching our experience in Hong Kong and easing the financial load. We are hoping to reach our goal by November 25th, 2018.
