Chris Holland memorial bench

Chris Holland, who I called "Dad," unexpectedly passed away on April 27, 2018 due to complications in heart surgery. With his passing, a large part of our hearts was suddenly empty. For those who were fortunate enough to call him friend or family, nothing will ever fill that void, but we can still remember him for the generous, kind, forgiving, humorous, and often mischievous man we came to love.
By donating to this cause, you're helping to build a bench in honor of his memory. The final location is still being determined, but the goal is to install it on publicly accessible land somewhere on the Cambria coastline. When the final location is determined, you will be notified on this website or via email if you've subscribed to alerts. The type of bench is also determined by where it can be installed. Ideally it would be custom made by the hands of Cambria locals and mine, but any CA State Park lands require specific materials and design if we go that route.
For those who are able to attend his celebration in Cambria on July 22nd, there will be a large poster to sign. This poster will be converted to a small plaque and affixed to the bench. In a way, we'll all be able to sit with him together, day and night, for the rest of our days. For anyone who isn't able to attend and still wants their signature on it, please contact me via the message button (a mail icon) to the right of my name on this page.
The final cost of the bench is still being determined, and is largely based on the chosen location, but any funds raised beyond the final cost will be donated to the Sons of the American Legion Post 432 in Cambria. For example, if the bench ends up costing $1200, $800 will go to the Sons. My Dad and I were both Sons, and I have a huge amount of gratitude for what they do for the community. And considering how much the Sons cook, I can't think of a better cause that my Dad would want to support.
