The Children in the Orchard Book!

PLEASE HELP!

Community Orchards for Resources and Education (CORE) grows free-pick fruit in Winnipeg. The first orchard is easily accessible to public at The Forks between the Manitoba Children's Museum and the playground. With special events, workshops and tours as well as being open to walk through, CORE reaches people from all walks of life and all ages.

The orchard demonstrates northern gardening, pollinator protection, beekeeping, sustainability, food security and community building in action. When harvest is ready, berries, apples, pears, cherries and plums are free to the public.

"Children in the Orchard - The Story of CORE" is currently being written and illustrated by award-winning artist, writer and permaculture gardener, Signe Knutson.

It is a children's resource for northern gardening, permaculture and orchard techniques. It will help pass this crucial knowledge to the next generations to help ensure food security.

We aim to have the book finished by the end of 2018.

It is already being created but each page takes many hours of research and illustration.

It is our goal to be able to supply copies of the book for free to those who need it as well as to create a resource that will improve the nutrition available to northern and inner city residents.

Please help us to Crowd Fund to cover the costs of production. We will continue to crowdfund until our goal is reached.  Any extra will go directly to enhancing the orchard and fulfilling our education mandate.

Our goal is $10,000.00

Your donation of $25 or more will reserve a signed copy of the book.

All donors will receive downloadable black and white drawings for colouring!

Donations will go directly to the development and production of the book and any surplus will go towards CORE orchard development and free fruit for all.

CORE gratefully acknowledges recognizes that the orchard is planted on Treaty One territory, traditional Anishinaabe territory and is blessed to share this space with all our brothers and sisters.
