Bibles For Children
Donation protected
Our bible study group, Godś Wednesday Warriors, participated in a local charitable outreach called Secret Families last December. It touched our hearts to see eyes light up as needs were met for families who once thought they woudn´t have any Christmas joy. That outreach provides a tree with decorations, a meal, presents for each family member, a family bible, and an offer of prayer. Children and adults alike were delighted to see the presents being carried in by our group, but we noticed that as we passed out the family bibles, the children didn´t have a bible to call their own.
Itś on our hearts that children in need would not only receive presents this Christmas, but hopefully find a passion for reading the word as they find encouragment with the stories and promises in a children´s bible.
The facts are, 80% of children from low income households aren´t reading at grade level, and nearly half of our local Delaware County families live in poverty (or are one crisis away from it). These children are at a 30 million word gap from their more affluent peers.
Our plan is to purchase as many age appropriate bibles for as many youth as we can supply them to. These bibles are illustrated, and written specifically with children in mind. We believe that by giving them a bible of their own, we would be planting the seed for their understanding and loving the word of God.
Some thoughts to consider:
For every $3.00 you donate, you are placing a bible that they can read and understand in the hands of a child.
If you donate $3.00 - you reach 1 child.
If you donate $30.00 - you reach 10 children.
If you donate $300.00 - you reach 100 children.
Along with bringing joy and hope this Christmas, we´d be so very thankful if you would help us bring a Bible to the hands of a child who needs a boost to bridge the reading gap, along with instilling a love for reading God's word.
