Chief John Embree's Retirement

$1,454 of $775 goal

Raised by 27 people in 41 months

After 23.5 years, John is finally retiring from the Navy on May 2, 2015. To honor this once-in-a-lifetime occasion, John has requested the gift of a ceremonial Navy CPO (Chief Petty Officer) cutlass, which he is authorized to wear per Navy Uniform Regulations ( http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/reference/messages/Documents/NAVADMINS/NAV2011/NAV11025.txt). For reference, this is what the CPO Cutlass looks like:  http://www.vanguardmil.com/products/usn-new-cpo-cutlass-sabre-sword

I humbly ask John's family and friends for any contribution to the purchase of this meaningful gift as tribute to his years of military service. It will be presented to him during his retirement ceremony, and will mean the world to him.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to share.

Aloha,
Kari

4/14/15 UPDATE: With the incredible support already shown by our dear friends, the initial goal of $500 for John's CPO cutlass has been reached! I am incredibly grateful to everyone for their generous gifts and want you to know that this means so much to John and I.

For anyone who still wishes to contribute, I am adding a stretch goal of an additional $275 to help cover the cost of a custom shadowbox in which John's military medals and service history will be displayed. This is a time-honored Navy retirement gift that carries great significance to all military servicemembers, past and present, and it will also be presented to John during his retirement ceremony.

Again, John and I thank you all from the bottoms of our hearts. We are the luckiest people in the world to have the friendship and love of so many people!

4/15/15 UPDATE: Holy crap, you guys, your support is AMAZING! We have exceeded the original goal of John's official retirement gifts, so now any additional contributions will go toward THE RETIREMENT PARTY! Details are being finalized hopefully by end of week. Stay tuned, and thank you again so, so much from both of us. We are truly honored.

4/24/15 UPDATE:  We will be holding a coffee & cake reception from 11am - 1pm on the Garden Court Terrace at the Homewood Suites by Hilton located next door to the USS Recruit immediately following the retirement ceremony. This is an open invite, please join us!
