Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary

$2,111 of $10,000 goal

Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary in Western North Carolina is a safe place where all chickens can be free from harm - a no-kill, no-euthanasia haven for our feathery friends.
We rescue and provide a forever home for the neglected, unwanted, homeless, abused, abandoned chickens, battery and broiler hens, roosters saved from cockfights.
At the moment we don't re-home our residents.

Our emergency need is to build a bigger chicken house for our 100+ residents and to put roofing on 2 dog lots as well as replace the roofing on the 12 individual coops.
We are planning to extend the fencing and make it permanent - for all the residents to have more space.
Our property is on 4 acres...
We appreciate any amount of donations what would bring us closer to our project.

We acomplished the followings thanks to your generous donations:
- put up a temporary fencing
- put a new flooring in the chicken house
- build 12 individual coops for roosters saved from   cockfight

One of the most heartbreaking rescues so far!
The property was abandoned a month ago with 5 chickens and 2 ducks.
When I arrived only one duck and 3 chickens were alive.
I assume that the 3 birds died of starvation and have been eaten by the one who stayed alive.
Horrible conditions, as you can see from the photos.
Terrified, wild and not trusty it was a challenge to catch them.
They will have a loving home where I will care for them, maybe they will forget all the bad what happened...
