A Promise to be Kept - Chicago Cubs
My mother was a lifelong Cub fan whose dream was to see the Cubs play in a World Series. In 1984, she had World Series tickets and the Cubs failed to make it, two years later she was killed in a car accident on her way to give a talk to a church group about "How wonderful it is to be alive". At her funeral, my brother and I vowed to represent Mom if they ever got to the World Series. I will keep that promise along with my 25 year-old son Luke, somehow, someway. (We got wiped out by the Great Recession)
What will the money go for:
$500 for gas to drive our Suburban 25 hours from Idaho to Chicago and back. We will sleep in the back of the Suburban en route.
$497.86 to stay at a hostel October 29th - November 4th, two El stops from Wrigley Field for one week. (We would be in Chicago for games 4-7 of the Series and there for any potential parade)
$500 for food and drink for a week. (We will cook meals at the hostel) We have no delusions we will get tickets but we will be in Wrigleyville and watch the games in local establishments.

I am a 4th generation Cub fan, my son a 5th generation Cub fan. Keeping this promise in honor of my Mother means the World to me. It is very hard to ask for help but without it, I don't know how we can go otherwise.
If any funds are leftover, I would donate them to the local domestic violence shelter in our town, Family Safety Network - Driggs, Idaho.
