Let's Rehabilitate Chegode

‘Qenie Misikir Guba’e Bet’ (School of Excellence of Ge’ez Poem), established in Chegode Hana, Quarit Wereda parish at Fengetta kebele in the West Gojam Diocese of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, was destroyed in a fire accident that started in the morning of January 15, 2017. This Qine Misikir Guba’e Bet  - a certification center - of Liqe Liqawint Yared Shiferaw, has produced a lot of church intellectuals since its establishment and continues to do so to this day. 

Witnesses say that the windy weather, the fact that the pupils of the Guba’e Bet and the laity in the area were at the annual Trinity celebration some distance from the locality, and the fact that the Guba’e Bet was made of wood and grass, all combined making the fire accident more destructive than it would have been otherwise.

Local sources indicate that 500 to 600 pupils have been attending their studies at the Guba’e Bet and currently these have been sheltered in the parts of the Guba’e Bet house that remained undamaged by the fire.Mahibere Kidusan expresses its heart-felt sorrow to the Guba’e Bet teacher, Liqe Liqawint Yared Shiferaw, the pupils and the laity in the locality about the tragedy. Mahibere Kidusan wishes God give them the strength to go through this painful moment.

In view of this, Mahibere Kidusan has called out to fellow Christians to give them their support so as to restore the Gube’e Bet to its original condition, avoid leaving of pupils studying there and the school from being closed down.

Mahibere Kidusan (Association in Commemoration of Saints), is a spiritual association under the Sunday School Department of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and is headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Mahibere Kidusan registered as a not-profit religious organization in the United States using the name Mahibere Kidusan Coordinating Center in North America. It works exclusively on charitable, religious, educational, cultural and social issues, under the auspices of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the United States and in Ethiopia.

One on the many activities Mahibere Kidusan focusing on is, supporting activities to renovate historical and ancient churches and traditional schools, build new traditional schools, and assist monasteries and traditional schools, to generate their own income through developing projects, so that the original teachings of the church is kept alive and the apostolic succession is maintained.

The requested funding will be utilized to give an emergency support so that the teaching activity can continue.

Mahibre Kidusan is known in utilizing funding directly to the cause through its structure.

በኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያን በምዕራብ ጐጃም ሀገረ ስብከት በቋሪት ወረዳ ቤተ ክህነት ልዩ ስሙ ፈንገጣ በሚባል ቀበሌ በጨጎዴ ሐና የተቋቋመው፤ ከተመሠረተበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ በርካታ የቤተ ክርስቲያን ሊቃውንትን ሲያፈራ የኖረውና እስከ አሁን ድረስም ሊቃውንትን የመተካት ተልእኮውን በመወጣት ላይ የሚገኘው የሊቀ ሊቃውንት ያሬድ ሽፈራው የቅኔ ምስክር ጉባኤ ቤት ጥር ፯ ቀን ፳፻፱ ዓ.ም ረፋድ ላይ ድንገት በደረሰ የእሳት ቃጠሎ ምክንያት ሁለት መቶ ሃያ አምስት የደቀ መዛሙርት መኖሪያ ጎጆዎች፣ ልዩ ልዩ መጻሕፍት፣ ምግብ እና አልባሳት በአጠቃላይ ከሰባት መቶ ስልሳ ሦስት ሺሕ አምስት መቶ ብር በላይ የሚገመት ንብረት መውደሙ ታውቋል፡፡


ጉባኤ ቤቱ ከአምስት መቶ እስከ ስድስት መቶ የሚደርሱ ደቀ መዛሙርት ይማሩበት የነበረ ሲኾን በአሁኑ ሰዓትም በከፊል ከቃጠሎው በተረፈው የጉባኤ ቤቱ ማኅበር ቤት ተጠልለው ይገኛሉ፡፡

ጉባኤ ቤቱን ወደ ነበረበት ህልውና ለመመለስ፤ ደቀ መዛሙርቱን ከመበተንና የጉባኤውን ወንበርም ከመታጠፍ ለመታደግ መላው ሕዝበ ክርስቲያን ድጋፋችሁን  እንድታደርጉ እንጠይቃለን፡፡
