Expose the NCAA: Give to Che's Film

Donation protected

My name is Ché Williams and I am an aspiring film maker, majoring in film and Africana studies at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where I am entering my junior year. I have produced award-winning films and now I am preparing for my senior project, for which I will be granted release time to shoot and edit a major film. I will produce a full-length documentary on the exploitation of student athletes. My project will demonstrate how sneaker companies, with the help of hip hop artists, and in conjunction with the NCAA, NBA, and amateur basketball leagues, have used their influence to amass profits for all but one of the parties involved: the “student athletes,” who are disproportionately black.

I will travel the country interviewing several participants from ten states to get their perspectives on the process, and the support and hurdles for fulfillment of their athletic dreams. It will also include interviews of sports commentators, lawyers, parents of basketball players, and retired professional athletes who offer diverse perspectives on the ethics the system.

I am asking for any support you can offer to launch this project. Your donations will be used for equipment, travel, lodging, and other expenses I will incur throughout my journey. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email redacted].

With thanks for any and all support,
Ché Williams
