Help Rebuild Camp Safari!

Donation protected
Help us bring much needed upgrades to Camp Safari and our infamous Safari Bar!  We've been accepted for this year's placement, and we need your help to ensure that the Safari Bar can return to the playa this year, and for years to come!
Every dollar will help, and we’ll match each one with gobs of our time and labor (additional pre-event help is always welcome, as well as alcohol donations that need not be full).
help the thirsty giraffes!

A little history: This will be our third year bringing the Safari Bar to Burning Man.  We're a Pacific Northwest and SF union that started the bar in 2013 as a tiny stand squeezed into some random space.  We had full intention of torching the bar by the end of the week, but our spin-for-shots bar was a success (and so much fun) that we grew a little in 2014 and achieved official placement in burning man’s theme camp list.  Now, in 2015, we’ve been accepted for another placement, and have loftier goals and a hoard of potential camp safarians to support.

We’ll build as much as we can afford to. Every donation will go directly to expenses in order of approximate importance. Anything we receive in addition to our goal will go to stocking the bar with unique drinks and to cover any number of unlisted expenses and replacements. Thank you so much for your support!
We have three weeks to get it all built before it rides to the northern Nevada desert.

Here's the list of improvements, in approximate order of how we'll fund them, along with estimates of what our materials will cost:

The Safari Photo Op - $100
Don’t just watch the Safari, be part of it with your head mounted in our 8ft x 8ft Safari-themed backdrop. Money will go toward wood, paint, and building supplies

Lighting - $350
One of the most amazing parts of Burning Man is the contrast of light against the dark playa. Kind of like Las Vegas in the dust. Help us open our bar and photo op at night (and go eco-friendly) with LED lighting powered by Solar. During the day we’ll charge a marine battery with a 100 watt solar panel, which in turn will power led spotlights for the photo op, and led strips for the Safari Bar signage.

New Grass for the bar - $150
The faux grass that surrounded the bar the previous 2 years has disintegrated beyond use. Help us replace the place where tired, thirsty feet stand with more durable lawn grass

Bike Rack - $90
As a bigger camp, we’re asked to provide parking for visiting bikes. We’ll build a reusable, collapsible bike stand that will hold up to 18 bikes at a time for our patrons.

Van Rental/Entry Parking Pass - $750
With the increased amount of gear required, we need help bringing the stuff to the event (The entire bar used to drive up in a subaru!). We can get a pretty sweet deal on a 2 week van rental with your help.

Camp Shade - $150
We’ve received a generous shade donation.  We're halfway there, just need to build the second half! We need a place to shade our bar hosts between shifts (as well as guests). We’d like to build a simple 10x20 shade to add on to our donated shade, framed with pipe and covered on the top and two sides with shade cloth.

Camp Shower - $90
With this much to build, we’re going to be out in the desert for a little longer this year. Wet wipes are not going to cut it! We’re still going simple, but we need to build a new platform (to catch water runoff), stand (to hold solar showers) and run-off pool (so the sun can evaporate the run-off). Help keep the safaris clean!

Trash Fence - $120
It looks like baby's been backed into a corner this year. As a corner lot, we need a 100 foot physical separator along the street side of our camp.  We'll use a simple construction fence with T-bars to hold it up.

Extend the bar! -$150
This is our loftiest goal. While the camp and activities will grow, the bar still barely seats four. We’ll build multi-foot extensions for our existing bar and add four more safari stools for patrons.
