HELP MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS DEVELOP A LOVE FOR WRITING!
As a former classroom teacher, I search for ways to give back to the profession that has given me great reward. Because writing gave me solace, comfort and a creative outlet as a young adolescent, it seemed only natural to provide middle school students a collaborative and supportive place to find their voices, develop their writing skills and grow their love for the written word as they read and write poetry together. For the first three years, I donated my time and covered expenses for writing materials and snacks during our weekly meetings. I have also covered the costs for printing the published anthology through Amazon's CreatSpace and purchasing supplies for the culminating Poetry Club Celebration for students' family and friends.
This will be my fifth year of Poetry Club at Cesar Chavez Middle School in Oceanside, California .Your donation will allow me to continue my efforts with 15-20 students.
