I am raising money for the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) at the General Hospital in Southampton because this charity has touched me very closely. This unit provides specialist care to sick and pre-term newborn babies. It is one of the largest nenonatal units in the country treating around 900 babies in a year. They are currently fundrasing for a specially adapted neonatal ambulance which can be used to transport sick and pre-term babies. In regards of choosing this charity, my girlfriends baby brother was born at 24 weeks pre-term weighing only 935g and this unit had the biggest part in helping him become the character he is today having spent the first 115 days of his life amongst this unit as well as what 32 Blood transfusions and I feel I would do Him, myself and my family proud by running to support this charity, and by also setting myself the target of running this in under an hour.
