Charlie Hummel's Bocce Court Eagle Project

Donation protected
Update as of October 27th. Progress report from Charlie re Eagle Scout Project: We have finished rebuilding the first court. We will begin demo and the rebuilding of the second court during the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd with plans to complete the project over school break for the NJ Teacher's convention. Thank you to all those who have donated!! I am continuing my effort to raise funds as my goal has not yet been met. Thank to all who have donated or volunteered Hi, my name is Charlie Hummel.  I have been a scout since I was six years old. Also, I am a Life Scout with Troop 5 Maplewood, NJ.  I am currently a Sophomore at Columbia High School, in Maplewood, NJ.

For my Eagle Project, I am raising money to repair and repaint the Bocce courts near the Duck Pond in Meadowland Park. The funds are going towards buying materials to reconstruct, repaint and to purchase new gravel for the inside of the courts. This will benefit the community because many groups use the courts on a consistent basis. This project will help provide a more enjoyable playing experience. The courts are owned by The Village of South Orange and the Village is excited to be the beneficiary of my service project. I am working with The South Orange Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs and planning on fundraising throughout the winter so I can start the project early spring and finish during the summer of 2019.
