Charlie Cat's Surgery Fund
When we adopted Charlie Cat in January 2015, we found out immediately that he had kidney disease and one of his kidneys barely functions. He's been on special medication since then and on daily subcutanious fluids for nearly all of that time.
Recently, we took him to have some bad teeth removed, and to have a follow up on some high numbers that showed up in his last blood test. It wasn't good. His gall bladder was enlarged and his liver enzymes had skyrocketed. A needle biopsy was performed and sent off for testing and his x-rays and ultrasound shared with other professionals. Today, we received the news that, while he has no tumors and shows no signs of cancer, it still could be lymphoma in the very early stages. It could also be about a half-dozen other things, too. The only way to know for sure is to do exploratory surger and take a piece of his liver, pancreas, and intestines for indepth evaluation.
We've already spent $1200.00 on him this month in veterenary care costs. That doesn't include the cost of his regular medications and sub-cutaneous fluids. I'm including a photo of his two latest vet bills, for the sake of transparency.
We will need these funds ASAP. The sooner they can do the full biopsies, the more likely we can keep whatever it is treatable.
I can't lose my little buddy. He is not a pet. He is my mental health therapy companion. He is my wife's little baby. He's more than a cat. He's family for us, and we both need him.
Those of you that know Connie and I know how grateful we were last time folks helped out. Connie recently did a round of crochet commissions to raise some funds that went towards some of his vet bills last month. We will be so grateful, so thankful, for any help we receive, even just a dollar.
Attached is a photo of the two latest bills. His total vet bill to date has been $3673.66. You folks kicked in $2620.00 of that and we are ever so grateful. Thank you all.
Our baby kitty is so happy to be home. He is roaming the house, and then flopping over because he is exhausted and drugged up. He keeps head booping my leg so hard he nearly falls over!
Thank you all so much for everything, whether you contributed financially or simply shared the link. You are all such wonderful people.
The first of our funds from this fundraiser came through today and we payed one of his smaller bills from the preliminary work last week and picked up one of his new prescriptions from Walmart. Thank you all for contributing to this fundraiser! You are all very dear to us and we can't possibly express the depths of our gratitude!
The veterinarian said his liver, pancreas, and gall bladder were very inflamed. Samples have been sent off. It may be the end of the week before we know anything. A major problem is that if it ends up being one of a handful of things, the treatment for it will be hard on his already damaged kidneys. So, yeah...
We've already decided we are going to do whatever it takes, how ever much it costs, to keep him for as long as we can, as long as his quality of life remains good.
But I'm very scared of losing my little buddy.
