Charles & Joy Steffen Fire Fund

On Wednesday, January 4, 2017, approximately 1 pm, Charles was burning the end of a rope and set it aside, but did not realize it was still hot and smoldering.  Within seconds it started a fire that consumed their garage.  He tried to fight the fire with a bucket of water, but a neighbor saw the smoke and ran to their aid, and realized they could not win the fight.  Both Charles and Joy were removed safely, but within 20 minutes 2/3rds of their home was consumed by fire.  They stood outside hand-in-hand for 2 hours watching the fire fighters battle the flames.   
Joy is a beloved piano teacher of 60+ years, and has many students of all ages.  She also plays piano for a local Methodist congregation.  
This fund is  being created upon the request of many to offer immediate help and assistance with their many unexpected expenses (which their insurance may not cover).
