The Seacoast Waldorf School values adequate learning space for children!  

The school's mission is to develop innate capacities, moral strength and innovative thinking to serve humanity and the natural world.

And we are on the verge of something very exciting. To honor this mission, we are embarking on a  journey to finally give our students the facilities they desperately need. The children at this school need 3 additional classrooms (we have run out of classrooms) as well as an indoor multi-purpose space for their concerts, plays, class celebrations, sports and activities (our current indoor space is confined and inadequate). 

The 3 new classrooms will also allow the children to stay in the elementary grades from the 6th grade until the 8th grade. This is something our students have wished and hoped would happen for many years. Now their dreams of staying at the school they love until the 8th grade are finally coming true!

This incredible community has already raised over 1 million of the 1.6 million goal needed in order to give the students the space they need.  We hope you will help us give these kids 3 new classrooms and an indoor multi-purpose space they so desperately need!

Brief Summary of the Project

We serve over 75 children from more than 15 towns across the Seacoast region of Southern Maine and New Hampshire stretching as far north as Kennebunkport and as far south as Newburyport. 

The specific plans include:

1) Give the children a large, beautiful, bright indoor multipurpose space for:

* An indoor gym with high ceilings.
* An auditorium for class plays, musical performances, and presentations.
* A eurhythmy (an expressive rhythmical movement) room.
* An attractive indoor space for assemblies, festivals and events, and graduations.

2) Giving the children three new classrooms.

Construct three brand new, beautiful, bright classrooms for the students. This will give the students needed classrooms for grades 6, 7 and 8.

As an added bonus, the environmentally aware design and construction methods of this new building, which will house both the classrooms and the multi-purpose space, will also serve as a tangible example for the students of the lessons we teach them every day:

* Sustainability as a priority, recycling and/or locally sourcing materials.
* Renewable energy forms and energy efficiency models.
* The elements of “NetZero” energy efficiency.
* Creative water conservation methods.

Our students already practice a high level of Green School practices such as low waste, high recycling, composting, student farming, nature appreciation and conservation efforts.

This is the first Capital Campaign in the 16 year history of this school. We hope you will join us on this very special and exciting journey to support our students with the classrooms and facilities they need!
