The ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict has resulted in widespread psychological trauma among soldiers, Israeli citizens, and Palestinians in Gaza, leading to elevated rates of PTSD. Conventional therapies often fail to reach many who need them, especially those distrustful of traditional mental health services or who face cultural barriers to seeking help. At the same time, the region is home to numerous abused, neglected, and stray animals in need of care and rehabilitation. Our program is designed to simultaneously address both human and and animal suffering through a therapeutic model known as Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT). This initiative, based in Israel, will provide essential support for individuals suffering from PTSD as they engage in the care of abused animals and birds.
