A Girl Like Me Inc Baby and Mentoring Program
My name is Tyra Moore; I am the founder of A Girl Like Me Inc. Nobody knew from personal experience of being pregnant at 14 in 2007. I gave birth the same week that my mom finally found out. I did not have anything for my baby, but when my mom told everyone, my family, friends and community came together to make sure that the baby and I had everything we needed, and it lasted for a few years. From that moment, I promised myself that I would one day pay it all forward by helping Girls, Teens, Teen Moms and Moms.
Fast forward to today, I persevered. I finished high school, went on to further my education, and now I am married with two additional children. Because of my experience, it is important to me to provide a safe space for other teenage girls and girls like me to learn how to prevent adolescent pregnancy and provide them with the necessities and education needed to be a good parent should they become pregnant.
Many Girls, Teens, Teen Moms and Young Mothers count on the free items, services and resources we provide for them. A Girl Like Me Inc is raising funds to keep our services going. We also would like to add more classes, services and needed things to the program to set our Girls, Teens and Young Mothers up for success.
A Girl Like Me Inc is a nonprofit organization that helps Girls, Teens, Teen Moms, and Young Moms between the ages of 11 to 25. We strive to help all Girls, Teens, Teen Moms, and Young Moms with the struggles they may be facing. We provide free diapers, wipes, baby milk, food, new and gently used baby items, clothing and shoes and personal hygiene kits. We also offer resources and a mentoring program for Girls, Teens and Teen Moms between 11 to 17.
Our mission is to educate and encourage Girls, Teens, Teen Moms, and Young Moms between the ages of 11 to 25 to make healthy life choices. Help deliver new possibilities through life skills classes, coaching, goal setting and character development to help build their confidence and empower them all to excel. #HelpingAllGirlsAtATime
