HELP CAST GET TO DC: DOMESTIC ABUSE

Donation protected
1 in 3 women face domestic violence!  In PG County MD (near Washington, DC , where we are performing April 22 and 23) eight domestic violence myrders have already occurred!

We need your help.  The expenses we face to do this production is great; however, the cause we raise awareness to is even great.

We have never had a major investor - all of our productions have been produced by personal donors who care and have always been there.  I commit every available  personal fund that I have!  Every dime counts - it's been hard; but, the rewards outweigh the difficulties.
In 2008, I left my corporate job to devote 100% of my time to this cause.  I have downsized so much and have given up many luxuries  - no cable - even didn't have a car for a few years and rode public transportation, whatever it takes, I want to see this cause be a success.  1 in 4 women experience domestic violence.  And, 2 in 5 men do so as well.  Those are only the reported incidents - I am convinced that those statistics are much higher.

Why do I do it?  I lived in a domestic violence home until our was 17-years old.  I saw my mother being beaten to a bloody pulp, stomped unconciously, and the last straw that caused us to flee in the night like fugitives - my Dad shot a gun at my Mom - the bullet nearly grazed my face.   We both could have been killed that night.  That was the straw that broke the camel's back and after almost two decades of abuse - convinced my mother that it was in our best interest to leave.  That was my senior year in high school.  I had to leave all my friends and family.  We packed as much as we could in a suitcase, and with the aid of one of my Dad's friends, who ironically was an abuser as well, we boarded a plane to a place 3,000 miles from my hometown of Sugarland, Texas, to Tacoma, Washington - which was a cultural shock for me - The Pacific Northwest. Even the temperature - from a warm, sunny climate to a cold, rainy one.  My entire life changed,

So for me, this mission is personal.  And some of my cast members have similar stories as well, which I will share throughout this campaign.  In fact, the lady that portrays the lead role of First Lady Lisa's Sills' real

life was the mirror-image to her role in play, even though I didn't know her when I wrote it.  Her husband was an associated minister, who abused and held her hostage on their honeymoon night and subsequently throughout her marriage until she got the courage to leave.

If you could find it in your heart, please donate to this campaign as your budget see fit - some large - some small.  We are grateful for any donations you can render.  We promise you, it will be put to good use.

Thank you in advance for your contribution!  If you want to know more about our stage plays and our nonprofit organizations - we have two websites:  http://www.forgiven2.com and http://www.pals4life.net
