Chad & Dani Lassiter: ❤️ Surgery

As many of you know, Chad & Dani Lassiter sold everything last October and moved their family to Thailand. They have grown closer as a family, learned to love the Thai people & culture, and found many opportunities to lead successful humanitarian projects.
Because of this, they had decided to come home for the summer to work and earn money so they could return back to Thailand in September for another year. 
Chad returned home at the beginning of June to teach tennis lessons in Herriman and has been doing so for about a month.
Dani returned back home to the States after finishing her @wetravelformore group on Saturday, June 30th.
Forty-eight hours after Dani returned, on Monday night, July 2nd, Chad suffered an aorta dissection (a tear in his aorta) while playing pickleball. This is quite rare for someone his age and is usually fatal.
He was light-headed, dizzy, short of breath, and experiencing chest pain. A fellow player and good Samaritan (who we have yet to identify) drove him to the ER thinking it was a heart attack.
Upon further testing, the aortic dissection was discovered, and Chad went into an emergency 7-hour open-heart surgery overnight. 
The experienced surgeon, Dr. Jones, was able to replace his aortic valve and repair the aorta. We are all so grateful it was a successful surgery, and feeling very blessed for all of the non-coincidental coincidences that allowed him to be in the right place at the right time for the medical professionals to be able to save his life.
He remains in the ICU recovering.  Ironically, he is in the same building, and same ICU that our Dad was in when he was having all of his multiple surgeries and complications. He has had many of the same nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and even housekeepers who all cared for our Dad. Upon admission, we were welcomed with open arms and warm embraces from this village who loved and cared for our Dad for so many months. 
While it's been somewhat cathartic to actually have Chad's recovery go the way it is "supposed to go," and to continually have positive reports of his progress, you can imagine that this medical emergency was definitely not in their summer plans, nor something they are prepared to deal with financially. Not only will Chad be unable to work until he is recovered, but also, he did not have any health insurance since they were just planning to return to Thailand.
If all continues to go well, he will remain in ICU until the end of the week, at least, but still could be in the hospital for up for three weeks. On a positive note, he is expected to make a full recovery.
If you know the Lassiters, you know they would never ask for help, but just figure out a way to make it all work. They epitomize hard work & hustle. However, as Dani's sister, I am creating this GoFundMe account as a way for all of those who know, love, and care for this family to have a place to donate to help lighten their burden.
