Samantha’s Medical Bills

On Thursday July 25th, Samantha was brought into genesys hospital for what was thought to be flu like symptoms. She ended up being admitted Thursday night for what was thought to be a severe UTI & severe pneumonia. As the night went on , she did not progress. She unfortunately continued to take a spiral downfall as the night progressed. She started to have a very difficult time breathing and was put onto oxygen which quickly advanced to needing to be put on a ventilator. After being put on the ventilator the doctors and nurses decided the best option was to put her into a medically induced coma & paralyzation of her entire body. After many tests , they found that she had been in septic shock and Acute respiratory distress syndrome. And that her lungs were 90% compromised and could no longer work on their own and full of an infection that they have never seen before. After over 24 hours at genesys with no progression or answers , the best decision for her health was to be air lifted to Henry Ford of Detroit to be able to have the option of Ekmo (lung life support) if it got to that point. Once arriving to Henry Ford the doctors were able to bring her to a state where they were happy and continued to monitor. Even with several tests ran, we still have no answers on what caused this unfortunate thing to happen to Samantha. She has now been off work for a week due to being sick , and is expected to be off for recovery for quite some time once she starts to progress. She also has an insurance with a very high deductible, and with the several tests , speciality doctors & being airlifted the medical bills are going to be outrageous and with being off work she is going to have many bills to pay and to be able to get back onto her feet after this tragic unexpected event.
