Dave Carroll Funeral Expenses

William David Carroll was born on 2/8/1966 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was unexpectedly taken from this life in the early morning hours of 7/28/2014 by two men who entered his home in Shreveport, Louisiana, with the intent to rob him and his roommate, Lane Luzader. Lane witnessed his buddy shot and still is in almost disbelief and does not believe he can live any longer after what he saw. We now know that the two suspects have been arrested and we pray for justice for this senseless killing.

After this completely unexpected taking of such a wonderful life his friends are requesting help for his daughter. Let us tell you a little about Dave…

Dave moved to Shreveport from Alabama in 2006. When he moved here he brought with him a siding and window business that was started with his best friend, Randy Brown (the posted photo shows Dave on the left and Randy on the right).

Randy and Dave were brothers, best friends and coworkers for close to 30 years. Dave made some close friends in Shreveport and everyone who knew him knew what a good hearted man he was.

Dave had a happy spirit who made others laugh and smile. He would do anything to help and protect his friends. He disliked discord and was always the one to try and calm a situation with a smile, a joke, and laughter. He was known for saying “Who loves ya?” to those he cared about with a big smile on his face and then giving that loved one a hug. He never turned down a friend in need and even though he may not have had the money to give a friend he would open up his home and his heart and did so many many times. Although if you spent much time with Dave you would know that he was a major fan of Motley Crue and you would have to endure his singing. He was probably the first one to buy tickets for their upcoming concert. He would sing around a bonfire (which was one of his favorite spots to hang out) or anywhere the music was playing and do his dance that was reminiscent of Axel Rose. He also loved to cook on the grill and just hang out outside after work talking with friends. There probably weren’t many who could cook chicken as well on the grill. He cooked a lot of chicken, even over the sighs and moans of friends sometimes. Dave loved anything that had to do with being outdoors and preferred being outdoors as opposed to being inside.

Most important about Dave is that he is survived by his only daughter, Jessica Carroll-Kelly, her husband, Joshua Crawford Kelly and their baby, Dave’s first grandchild, Juddson Wyatt Kelly.

“Jessie” and Juddson were the light of Dave’s life. Dave and Jessie recently mended their relationship and Dave’s main concern was making enough money to move back home to Alabama to be with his daughter and grandbaby and try to help in whatever way he could. There wasn’t a day that went by where Dave did not mention how much he missed his daughter and his beautiful grandbaby. Dave struggled with the thought of not being able to do enough, always wanting to make up for the time he had missed. A little over a year ago he left to see his daughter and grandbaby for the first time in a long time. He was a nervous wreck. He wanted to know what to say, what to wear, where to stay, anything to help ease his anxiety. He wanted things to be perfect but also understood he was not perfect and had made mistakes and people would know that. He did not blame them for that. When he returned to Shreveport he was one of the happiest men alive. Things went well and he could not wait to return. And he did. Those who knew and loved him knew that those two people were the most important people in his world.

Now his daughter is faced with trying to carry out the wishes of her father not to be cremated and to be buried next to his “Granny Grace” who raised him but without the funds at all to carry out those wishes. There was no burial policy. No insurance.

Dave’s death was senseless. Unexpected. Unpreventable. Unfair. Heartbreaking. He leaves so many loved ones who will do whatever they can to help his family but everyone works every day just like everyone else to pay their bills. Jessie did not write this. She is going through enough right now to have the added burden of figuring out how to find the help she needs. But everything is tied directly to her for the benefit of her father’s burial and a service back home in Alabama.
