Cedric and Sonja Coleman - Medical

On April 22, 2016, Sonja Coleman was diagnosed with a rare form of
cancer called Carcinoid. It is one of the most common malignant
tumors of the intestines. It has no cure, but it is treatable.
For Sonja, the treatments have included getting a shot every four
weeks, getting chemotherapy and having 10 operations in the last
six weeks. The cost of the treatments for Sonja are $17,000 per
month and the total cost to date is well over $400,000.

Despite her diagnosis and even though she has been hospitalized
at Ochsner Hospital in Kenner, La. for the past six weeks, Sonja
hasn’t let her illness damper her spirits. She possesses the same
smile that she had during her 27 years while teaching Pre-K to
sixth grade in the Jackson (MS) Public School System. She loves
serving people and she never complains about the challenges she faces.

Behind the smile Sonja possesses is the looming predicament of how
she and her husband Cedric will pay for her escalating medical costs.
They both are reluctant to ask for assistance, but assistance is

to assist the couple in making ends meet. Whatever is raised will truly

Sonja is the mother of three children, three grandchildren and the wife
of Cedric Coleman of 29 years. The entire family is grateful for any “love”
