Cedric "Agua Fria" South Beach
He's been selling water for 19 years!
Cedric has recently been beaten and robbed at gunpoint and has just been released from the hospital. Cedric is without out a phone or a place to live! He has been homeless for quite some time. Let's help Cedric get a roof over his head and a cell phone. He needs a place to rest.
I'm asking the Local community to pull together and help
one of the kindest people I know. I will also do my best to get him into a subsidized living program or whatever programs the State has to offer. Every little bit helps! Thank you so much!!
He is looking for an apartment for rent. I am helping him, but we don't have anything concrete yet. If you know of a studio or 1 bedroom for rent, please let me know.
Donations are still appreciated, as the cost of motels quickly add up. It has also served a purpose as he needed a place to rest in the meantime.
Thanks so much,
Greetings to everyone. As you may already know Cedric dose not post on social media. However, he has asked me personally to ask his Miami Beach community if anyone has any leads or can help him find an affordable 1/1 or studio apartment ASAP. Even if its temporary- its better than hotel rates. He would like a place within a direct bus route to the beach or on the beach if at all possible.
He is willing to work with a land lord. Has applied for an ID
Please Message me if you are able to help. Thanks
As of today my family and I have located some of his relatives that have not seen him in years and helped him connect with his father who is about 80 years old himself. For the next few days, he will spend the nights with his father who lives in an age-restricted housing complex himself. (this is a very temporary situation) Previously we had gotten him a cell phone and put him up in a hotel for a few nights. We have assisted him in accessing services to begin the process to replace his ID, and hopefully get further medical care and will continue to help him to get settled as best and quickly as we can. We have accessed services including a list of affordable housing apartments through the 555 17th St address. We are open to any offers and suggestions which may also be helpful.
Although you may still hear and see him calling out "Agua Fria" on the beach with a big smile, Cedric is still recovering from the unfortunate incident and sometimes experience fainting, dizzy spells and pains in his hands.
At this time we have contacted GFM to release the funds and will be placing the remaining funds minus the fees posted through the use of the GFM site and incidental expenses in an account on his behalf. These funds will be used for rent primarily and to help him resettle in permanent affordable housing.
FYI this is taken directly from the GFM site
The breakdown from the GFM site is
2) GoFundMe automatically deducts a 5% fee from each donation you receive. In addition, our payment processor WePay charges 2.9% + $0.30 per donation. In total, you will be charged 7.9% + $0.30 per donation. If you received a donation of $100, you would get $91.80. Your GoFundMe account reflects the donations before fees, while WePay displays your balance after all fees have been deducted. Since our fee is deducted from each donation in real-time, you'll never need to worry about getting billed or owing us any money. Your donors are never charged fees.
For your reference, here is a breakdown of all your donations and applied fees so far:
Total Amount Raised $9,656.00
GoFundMe (5%) $482.80
WePay Fees (2.9% + .30) $359.80
Total Fees $842.60
Balance Available $8,813.40
So far we have extended approximately 500.00 dollars personally for Incidentals such as Hotel, Phone, Food, and Transportation
We would like to keep the GFM account going to have at least 10K solid or more, minus GFM fees and incidental expenses extended so far to go directly towards Cedric’s housing and resettlement needs.
Thanks for all your kind messages, love and support. It is truly appreciated
Today is Monday March 6th, I just seen Cedric at the beach park while walking my pet pig Peanut. I showed him all the comments again (he's happy to say that YES the woman who set this up IS in contact with him and he is VERY VERY grateful. He told me he is awaiting a state ID in the mail and will hopefully have it by Friday. I will be the one who takes him to the Chase bank on 5th and Washington with all his documents to help him set up a bank account. I'll even give him the $25 to launch the account. (Chose Chase since they are close to the park and because they can make him a debit card on location instead of waiting to one to be mailed). He wishes everyone on here a wonderful life and in his worlds "1 love 4 life" .. he even had hand gestures for his phrase.
I just stopped by to see Cedric in his spot and he is sitting on the wall crying because he said he was so touched that people care for him . I told him we all do and appreciate his smiles and positivity and how he has kept us hydrated for so many years! I suggested he opens a chase account on 5th street so everyday he can deposit his cash making him less of a target to be robbed again and then hop on his bus route from there. Any tips or suggestions on making this happen? Or an alternate solution? Let's create a hashtag for Cedric I suggest #cedricH2O
Good guy! Ill find him and money him
He was sick... but he was back at the beach this week... Today I did not see him on third, but I only stayed there from 11 to 12:30...
Thanks for posting all your well wishes for Cedric!!! We are all inspired by the outporing of love support and I understand he is also very moved. Thanks to every one who is sharing and caring.!!!. . I am so happy Ashley Chloe was able to show him what we are all doing on this site. . Shana Rain missed him on Friday and I am headed out to the 3rd St. beach around 3 PM today and am hoping he will still be there . I am looking forward to saying hello and begin figuring out some next best steps. Also Linking all your personal offers, suggestions and available services as needed and accepted through the 555, 17 Ave city office as well. I like the #CedricH20 Hashtag Also #Agua Fria
Valeria , is so nice of you to share this. I have help him several times and both water from him as well. Didn't know his name thou .He is amazing person and great energy, appears always happy.
I will make sure you ok my good friend.
Hi Valarie, Thank you for your note! I will try to get this information to Clive by drawing my daughter Shanas attention to your suggestion. I do not know if he is aware.
What is Cedric' situation?
Cedric does have the ability to see all these comments: I'm usually asking my pet pig Peanut in the park every afternoon and happily pull up the page for him to see. If anyone has anything particular to tell him and you catch me out there: I'll be sure to pass along any message. Once he gets an ID I'd be happy to help him get an account at Chase (I bank there as well).. having him deposit there before taking the bus would make him less of a target for sure.
Hi everyone my mine is with Cedric at the 555 building getting the ball rolling. The only money I've spent was fro My pocket and that was for a motel and a phone and cash for food etc. the most important is for him to get an ID. As no one will rent him a place with out it. Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop.
Hi Everyone. The next most important step is to get Cedric an ID. ( provided he is willing and cooperates)
So glad to hear this. Keep us in the loop!
I saw him again by 2 str. yesterday- Sunday; back in business. I mention to him about raising money to help him. He was happy, touched, smiling like always and litlle emotional. It feel so good to be able to help someone.
Hi Shana - thanks for the update and for taking the initiative for this great community effort. It will be important for everyone to have transparency as to how the money is applied. Can you provide us with your thoughts for how that will be accomplished? We are all vested emotionally and financially in this effort! Thanks so much. Ben Wolkov
Hi Everyone I want to say thank you and the response has been overwhelming! Cedric has expressed his gratitude and had no idea so many people love and care for him. Today was the first day I met with him since the go fund me has started. We talked about what his needs are and what direction we are taking. He is not a fan of the system and getting him to cooperate may take a lot of effort and convincing. This is not strictly a quick fix or solely to a financial issue. The good news is I got him a phone to communicate with him. Fyi please don't ask for his number as he has made it clear he does not want a bunch of people calling him. I also put him up in a temporary living space. This is a quick fix and the real work begins now. I really hope he is willing to follow through with a program to get him subsidized housing .Thanks so much for your support and well wishes. Cedric is in great spirits and super thankful!!
