About the
Cecilia Ensemble
The Cecilia Ensemble is the high school age section of the Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs and is directed by Maria Belva. We live in the Monadnock Region in southern New Hampshire. The young women who sing in the choir must be self-motivated, responsible individuals and accomplished musicians.
The Cecilia Ensemble travels to Europe for a Concert Tour every other year. The girls become ambassadors of peace and goodwill by bringing their beautiful voices to another country, and experiencing some of the incomparable artistic treasures of one of the world's oldest and richest cultures. We share at least one concert with a local girls choir and share a meal and exchange contact information. The connections that are made help form a web of understanding and cooperation across the ocean.
We have traveled to Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, Sicily, Austria and Hungary, Italy, and France. In April 2018 we are returning to the Czech Republic. We are very busy fundraising to pay for a portion of our trip, but we need help. The costs are not easy for some of the girls. We need your help to give scholarships for a handful of choir members whose families cannot afford to make up the difference.
Your gift will be used to help defray the tour costs for three different families who need significant assistance. Each individual must pay $3600 for the week-long tour, which includes airfare, food, hotels, tour guide, and concert expenses.
The girls who need help are talented singers who are working very hard to earn money themselves. We all will benefit by having them perform with us!
