A pulled muscle at the gym turned out to be an “incidental finding” for Ryan Pequignot. Six months ago Ryan thought he pulled a muscle in his chest working out in the gym. He went to his family doctor who did an x-ray and nothing was identified. Ryan was told to rest and let it heal.

However, on a family trip to the beach, Ryan lifted his youngest son out of the water, and felt a “pop” in his chest .  Immediately,  his chest became red and swollen, and he was in intense pain.

Because of the intensity of the pain, the next step was a CAT scan.  What he thought was going to be a pulled muscle, turned out to be a 6 cm mass on his manubrium/sternum.  Ryan and his family were told he had a Giant cell tumor.  They sent the slides to an outside pathologist and the oncologist told them he “has cancer.”

Because this is a rare tumor, Ryan and Heather have had to see four different specialists to determine a treatment plan. He has an oncologist from University of Miami, and a thoracic surgeon as well. Ryan will require reconstructive chest surgery  ASAP.  The surgery is scheduled for March 1st. Once the tumor is removed, further treatment options will need to be decided.

Ryan and Heather are entering unknown territory.  This young hardworking family  will need your prayers and financial help. Already the out of pocket expenses have reached $6000.00 and their savings has been depleted. Ryan is now unable to work and is struggling to support his family. They have two precious little boys ages 2 and 6.

No amount is too small. Thank you for your generosity and support.
