Every year communities face an increase of property crimes during the holiday season. Cars get broken into in store parking lots while holiday shopping, homes are burglarized and gifts stolen, there is an increase in shoplifting.
Much of this crime is due to "at risk" youth, who are unemployed and often gang involved.
Our goal is to fund several ex-gang members who are turning their lives in a new direction. We will provide them money (in the form of grocery gift cards) to use for their families so that they do not feel they need to commit crimes in order to get money. The money will also be used to help purchase these people clothing to wear for job interviews when they seek employment for holiday work.
Receiving the money quickly is key, as the holiday season is almost here.
I am the Executive Director of Central Coast Gang Investigator Association and we have screened several ex-gang members that we know can be successful but need a little help getting there.
