Calvary Chapel LPFM Radio Station

Calvary Chapel Birmingham has been awarded a building permit by the FCC to construct a Low Power FM (LPFM) Radio Station at our church located in Pelham, Alabama. The mission of this LPFM station is to bring sound Biblical teaching (line upon line, precept upon precept, verse by verse through the Bible), produce original, Christ centered local programming, and report news with insightful, Biblical perspective. The station will reach over 100,000 households and businesses in the Hoover/Pelham/Indian Springs area as well as daily vehicle traffic on Valleydale Rd, Hwy 31, Hwy 119, and I-65.
The construction permit allows us to build the station at and broadcast from our church building. That means we will not have to rent a tower and studio space, so it reduces the costs associated with day to day operation of the station. That being said, there will be operational costs (such as utilities, music royalties, internet fees, upkeep, insurance, and the like) that we hope to cover by underwriting, special event fundraising, show dues, and other donations. At this time, we are more concerned with building out the station. Funds raised in this campaign will be used to cover the one-time costs (above and beyond our annual operating budget) of putting our LPFM license into action. We want to be able to give the best possible signal right from the beginning.
Here is our budget for this project:
-LPFM transmitter ($5,200)
-Single-bay antenna ($1,800)
-EAS (Emergency Alert System) equipment ($2,400)
-Permits ($150)
-Audio Processor ($1,250)
-Console ($1,900)
-Cabling and Hardware ($500)
-Telescoping Antenna Mast and hardware ($300)
-Computer and broadcast software ($1,500)
This totals $15,000. Once we're on the air, if there's any money from this campaign left over, it will go to our equipment depreciation (repair or replacement) fund.
