Joshua's Journey
For all of Joshua's life, he has felt emotions more intensely than others. His emotions often take control of his day-to-day life and have caused him to be separated from those who love him. Joshua's journey has been one that incorporates many mental health issues that cause him to suffer. He experiences more challenges than an 18 year-old-should. Unfortunately, within the past year, Joshua's mental health issues have heightened and made him see only the negative aspects of life.
On July 4th, 2019 Joshua Strobel attempted to end his life. Fortunately, Joshua survived and was immediately taken to Upper Chesapeake hospital. Once they realized how serious his condition was, it was then decided to transfer him to Shock Trauma for more intensive care. Joshua was then put in the ICU of Shock Trauma where he was in critical condition for two weeks. Luckily, he gained back all motor function and cognitive ability despite being so close to death. After Joshua was stable, he received cognitive therapy and rehabilitation to ensure his physical health. He is now receiving psychological therapy to help him cope with feelings, problem solve, and change behavior patterns. He is currently in a two-week program at Sheppard Pratt where he is receiving daily therapy to help him change his mind set and cope with the emotions that may drive him to dark thoughts.
The money raised will assist the family in paying for the unforeseen medical expenses that have ultimately saved Joshua’s life. The money will also go towards the continued rehabilitative expenses that will help Joshua lead a better life.
