The Caye Caulker Animal Shelter is located on the island of Caye Caulker in Belize, Central America. It was started 14 years ago by Kenrick Sampson, as a way to rescue stray animals from the regular eradications (poisoning). He has fought against the poisoning and succeeded in getting the village council to stop doing it.
At first, he fixed bicycles as a way to get income to support all the animals by himself. He is the only shelter who takes in stray animals on the island.
Kenrick needs donations to keep the shelter running. He is currently taking care of 42 cats and 8 dogs. He does not turn any animal away. He gets many dogs and cats adopted out to the U.S. and Canada.
