Catry Anita Guevara Funeral Services

Friends and family, 

Many of you had the great pleasure in meeting the beautiful ray of light that was Catry Anita Guevara. She left this earth so suddenly, leaving us all shocked and absolutely heart broken. Her heart was so full of goodness. She saw the good in everyone, and was the utmost selfless person, always putting others before her. She had a way of making you feel seen and heard, no matter who you were or how well she knew you. Knowing her was loving her. She was so devout to her family, her community and her friends. She praised God in everything she did. Her laughter and joy were immediately contagious. 

In my life, she helped me emerge as an artist and as a better human being. She believed in me and helped me in more ways that I could ever truly repay her for. I know I am one of many of whose lives she touched. 

Funeral expenses are such an overwhelming task and often a burden to those who simply need the time and energy to mourn. Her parents are two angels on earth, so loving and wonderful. I hope that you could find it in your heart to give to them whatever amount you can. All donations will go to them, and go towards Cat's services. Anything is appreciated. 

I leave you with my tribute to Cat, from the day we took those black and white pictures together, years ago.

We took these shots in my backyard. One light, it was all I could afford. You agreed to be my muse and did your makeup so beautifully and skillfully just as you had done on so many of my first models, the beginnings of my portfolio. That day, it was just you and me. Two looks. A natural look you were comfortable in, and a second, which pushed you out of your comfort zone, with gold tears and lioness hair. You kept telling me how you hated your hair teased out, but it looked so glorious, curls and all. I selfishly wanted you to always be there on set with me, on every shoot, and for the entire first portion, the infancy of my career, you were. You stayed so many nights until 4am, helping me shoot my assignments. You saved me more times with that artist finesse, always knowing exactly what I wanted, and going above and beyond every time, always adding more makeup. “More?” You’d ask, exasperated at my request. “Yes, more! It has to read on camera.” I admit, I wasn’t easy to work with in the beginning. Still, you were there to help me. Of course, I selfishly wanted you for myself, so we could take over the world of fashion. You and me, the dream team. But you had far too much compassion to let go to waste. You gave back to the world, and your community, and followed your heart to spread your love and light. I had just told you in a text, how happy it made me to see you do so. Not knowing, that I would never have the chance to tell you in person. 

Cat, you were my chosen sister. You were there to console me so many times, I couldn’t even begin to count. You were so selfless. Whenever all I could see was the pessimistic side of life, you always saw the good. You saw the potential for good everywhere you went and in everyone you met. I often felt protective over that side of you, but you always dove in, fearless to live your life. I loved that about you, and always will.

I hope I never forget the sound of your laugh, because it was so sincere and full of absolute joy. I hope I live a good enough life to meet you on the other side, because if anyone would make it into heaven, it’s you. I promise I’ll spread as much good as I possibly could, in your honor.  I love you. I love you.  I love you, Kitty Cat.
