Cathy's Recovery Challenge

My name is Janice.   My older sister Cathy Thompson Sofich is 57.   I'm trying to raise donations to help Cathy and her husband of 30 years, Rex, because on Friday, November 11, 2016, Cathy suffered a major stroke with a large blood clot in her brain.

Cathy has no health insurance. She was to start a new job on Saturday,November 12, 2016,  but she suffered the stroke.
Donations will help Rex commute between their home in Depoe Bay and Providence St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, Oregon (approx. 120 miles each way) to be with Cathy and to check on their pets and on their house.  He will need to take time off of his job to help care for her.  He will need to pay rent and bills while being by her side during this critical time.  He'll need help with medical bills.

Cathy was rushed to Providence in Portland from Depoe Bay on Friday .  She was given an injection of a clot busting drug, but it didn't work. The clot is large and causing pressure in her brain.  She has severe migraines and has damage to the left side of her body including the left side of each eye, her left arm and her left leg.  The damage might not be reversible.

She's had several MRI's over the past two days, and may need several more.  The doctors have suggested brain surgery to save her life if the swelling doesn't go down. 

We're holding on to hope and prayers and Cathy's stubborn streak to get through this ordeal.  If you can donate anything, large or small, it will be appreciated more than you may know.  Rex relayed that he and Cathy will be eternally grateful for any funds donated.
