A Home for Sarah and her Kittens

“If you want to change the world, start with the next person who comes to you in need.”- B. D. Schiers

A friend is in need. The bottom has dropped from her world and she is desperate. When in a similar place myself, she was there. She tossed me a rope and it was enough to get me on my feet again. That only works with someone, or many together, willing and able to pull your weight. Her weight is financial and on my own, my means are insufficient.

Getting ready in the morning , preparing a meal or running an errand, can feel like a daily chore for any of us. When you have severe OCD, these things are basically left to chance-- chance that the right time shown on the clock, the right thought in your mind, or a random flicker of light, will allow you to take each step. Sarah's OCD is so advanced, she often is stuck not able to take care of basic needs-- eating and drinking are left to chance. This misunderstood condition can force friends and family away. Sarah had a partner that understood all this, loved her and supported her, but he's now facing serious challenges of his own and after 25 years, is suddenly gone. The government disqualifies her from full funding, because she lives in an apartment under his name. They include his income, even though he's been gone for months and no longer able to support her.

The home where she has lived for 20yrs is being put on the market for sale by its owner.
It is the only environment in which she has felt any security.

Due to her anxiety disorder, Sarah has never been employed. She has no money, no car and soon, no home for her and her two kittens. This is not due to any lack of talent or effort. She is a very talented woman who has consistently shared her abilities to help others, but OCD is debilitating.

Your support will allow Sarah to find a home for herself and her kittens.

I am asking for money to save a life. The urgency is very real. I have seen frightening evidence of it I cannot share. She is literally alone with no one to turn to. I owe her, and this plea is my only currency. Sarah is at the end if her rope and I am terrified.

To others, she barely mentions her own disability. I used to manage an online support group for those with OCD. It had 2000 members, and many others contacting me personally with their stories. Not one nearly as restricted as she, yet she made herself available to every one of them and designed websites to guide their families. Now she has to count on others for help.

Thank you for listening, sharing and for any support you might offer.
