Cassandra NEEDS a service dog

In January 2018 Cassandra's life changed. She was no longer the thriving 21 year old law student who had been chosen as one of 1,000 young leaders in the world to sit at the United Nations in New York City. She was now confined to a wheelchair unable to walk, having multiple non-epileptic seizures a day lasting up to 5 hours, debilitating chronic pain, frustrating memory loss, temporary or permanent paralysis, chronic fatigue, dystonia, jerks and twitches every second, blurred vision, trouble speaking and frequently losing consciousness among many other symptoms every single day.

Cassandra can NEVER be left alone, she must be with someone 24/ , 365 days a year who can help if she has a seizure or loses consciousness. This is Cassandra's life with functional neurological disorder (FND). There are NO medications or treatment for FND. She can NEVER relax or she will immediately start seizing. She can no longer drive, live in her own home, study at university, walk, run, exercise or do any of the things she enjoyed before her diagnosis.

In a bid to get some independence back so she can finish her law degree and fulfil her dream to be a lawyer, Cassandra needs a service dog. A service dog can alert Cassandra when a seizure is about to happen so she can get to a safe place as well as keep her awake, get help when required, retrieve items, help her walk, allow her to be alone and give her back her confidence in herself.
