Casey needs a liver transplant

UPDATE 02/09/2017

Casey is now on the transplant list waiting for his new liver because unfortunately the kasai operation didn't work. We're hoping this happens sooner rather than later!
Thank you for all your support <3

Our son Casey was born on 03/02/17 a very special time in our lives. And extra exciting because our families had all girls :)
We noticed Casey was very yellow and also had yellow in the whites of his eyes so because of this we took him to the doctors a number of times and on each occasion was told it was nothing to worry about just a little jaundice and it would go away soon enough.

It was at Casey's 6 week check up that finally one of the doctors who told us he was fine now told us he was sorry and that he agreed that Casey needed checking out so he sent us to Alder Hey Childrens Hospital.
At Alder hey they took lots of bloods and also gave him an ultrasound scan. The doctors here suspected it to be Biliary Atresia and so they then phoned a specialist in Leeds.
The specialists insisted to get Casey to them asap so they put Mother and baby son in an ambulance..
Meanwhile father was taking care of our then poorly (chest infection)15 month old baby daughter Bella-Rose  at home.
They took more tests...few days went by and then we got hit hard in our hearts as they told us Casey had Biliary Atresia a rare disease of the liver and that he would need an operation called the "Kasai procedure"
All this was happening with mother, father and Casey's sister Bella-Rose being apart from each other. A very frightening time and it still is now.
Because we live a distance away from the specialist hospital a lovely nurse took it upon herself to organise a room right across the road for Father and daughter to stay to be there for Casey's operation etc. We can't thank the Sick Children's Trust and Eckersley House enough! We will be doing what we can for these charities for the rest of our days.

Casey has now had his operation and we're now having to wait months to see if it has worked. If not then he will need a liver transplant... if it has worked then Casey will get to keep his liver until he is about 10 years of age, after that he will probably still need a transplant.

We will be having to make regular trips to the specialists in Leeds for check ups and for them to keep running tests. He's on lots of medication, 9 in total!
It's been heart braking each day and we all still have a long road ahead but we can only hope that road doesn't have many bumps.

We would like to thank you from the bottom of all our hearts for any donations or kind words, it all helps a great deal!
It's not the start we wanted for our babies but we will do our very best to make their lives the best it can possibly be.
We will keep updating!

All your generous donations will go towards the cost of traveling back and forth to the specialists, to help with Casey's everyday essentials, to help go towards us being able to live in a better cleaner environment for both Casey and his sister.
We're doing our best but obviously you can only do so much. Sometimes you just have to reach out and ask for help.

Huge amounts of love to you all and for anyone else who has/is having to live with a poorly child, our hearts go out to you.
