Jasper's Heart ~ Casey and Amanda

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

It's been a challenging journey so far and the hardest parts are just starting. Jasper, our son with a congenital heart disease, and Amanda flew to Toronto on June 21. Aspen and I watched them leave with teary eyes but hope in our hearts. The doctors told us they would need to stay out there for around 6 months. So much is up in the air right now and were doing everything we can for Jasper but it is such a challenge.

We are raising money to help Support Amanda out in Toronto for 6 months, to raise money for traveling costs so we can bring Aspen out to Toronto eventually once Amanda is healed from her C-section, and to support our family in such a continually difficult and draining situation.

The original plan was to give him the norwood heart surgury on June 22 since vancouver considered him to have hyperplastic heart syndrom and the surgury would give him the best chance with only half his heart working properly. It has a number of challenges and risks but the outcome would be a tough 3 years and then relatively good health untill he would be 15 and then often many complications arise sinse the heart can become tired with only the small chamber of the heart doing 100% of the required work.

On june 22 the doctors told us that Toronto offered to do a different procedure with higher initial risks but if successfull ( a rough 20 % success rate) he would be much better off than having the Norwood procedure in Vancouver. He will never have a normal heart but if Toronto's doctors can pull it off it is his best chance at a most normal life.

In Toronto the doctors plan on doing a balloon angioplasty tommorow ( June 23 ) and an open heart Hybrid surgury next week. The goal is to open his aortic valve and make a bunch of heart adjustments so that proper flow can  be achieved. If its a success then his ventricle could begin to grow again and through ventricle retraining his heart may be saved so he will have a whole heart. If things start to turn he may end up needing the Norwood surgury but this chance if successfull will increase his life expectancy and his quality of life. If the firt two surgeries go well then at 2 months they will remove the scar tissue and keep working on the heart to help it grow more. They can't tell if the other heart valves are working properly so if anything starts to fail then they will need to do a Norwood procedure right away.

We have received so much Love, support, and donations to make it this far already. Family and friends have been miraculous every step of the way. I just want to thank everyone for everything given so far. If you are able to help us again in this next chapter of Jasper's challenging journey it would be so gratefully received.

Even just a couple dollars helps enormously and if you can’t donate, I ask that you please share this and pray for us. Thank you!
