Carr Fire refugee needs assistance

To our family, friends, and faithful followers:

As many of you know Connie & I have lost everything in the Carr fire we unfortunately did not have insurance.  Our beautiful home is now in ashes and we are left with only our suitcases.  As you may remember Connie, Brook and I lived in a tent, then a small trailer for 6+ years while we built our house one board at time.   It was tough but we made it.  Enjoyed over 36 amazing years.

When the fire came through I stayed to fight the fire.

Had lots of H2O (3000+ Gallons), hoses + a great deal of preparation but it was too much for just one man.

I stayed till it got beyond dangerous.  I know it was foolish but we needed to save the home.

Trees were exploding. The heat was intense. Spot fires were all around me and my escape was being overwhelmed. If I had stayed two more minutes, I would have not been able to write this and there would be nothing to read.

They say a man is judged not by how many times or how hard he gets knocked down but by how fast and how many times he gets back up.

This will be our inspiration to create a new home for Connie and I.  A positive attitude is a must to be resilient and to be able to bounce back!

Due to a shortage of funds and being of a bit older, (40  years) it  will be difficult but can and still will be achieved.

We will Rise.

Your assistance in the form of any monetary donations or supplying materials would be very much appreciated and will be put to good use.  If you want to come up and pound some nails that would great to.

We plan to buy a small trailer and live in it for a couple of years while we rebuild.  And rebuild we will.

First we must re-establish:  Septic, Power and Water. Then we start the house. Small two bedroom. Block and metal roof.  Fire proof as possible.

The very day after the loss of our home I was the first one at the Building Department to learn all the things needed to rebuild. Lots of hoops to go through.

This new adventure will be long and hard.  Any help would make this endeavor easier.

And this old couple needs all the help we can get.

Thank you for reading our story and we pray none of you reading this will go through a nightmare like this.

If there was ever a time to give its now.

                             WE WILL RISE
