Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Donation protected
Hello there! My name is Jakayla. I'm a 21-year-old college student working towards her bachelor's in English. As for my occupation, I'm a content writer and part time author.  Like everyone who has a dream, all I've ever wanted to do was publish books for young adults and children, however, that dream is becoming less real. I had to stop this year, 2017 when my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome progressed to the point that I began to lose muscle mass in both thumbs. Even though I can no longer write, performing small tasks too has become hard.

According to my doctor, I am at the point where pills, shots, physical therapy, and cast no longer help me. Carpal tunnel didn't just snatch my passion away, but chances of working elsewhere like for retail. II lost a job to constantly dropping things because I would lose strength and feeling in my hands.

My only hope and chance at regaining regular function of my hands are in carpal tunnel release surgery. This is a laparoscopic procedure in which a surgeon will cut or "release" the radial band that holds the carpal tunnel in place, releasing the pressure on the median nerve and giving it the room it needs to function normally, and above all else let me continue doing what I love without the pain and discomfort.

Without this surgery, my only options are, quit writing, and use voice to text software that barely works until eventually, I suffer permanent nerve damage and eventual muscle loss that results in me having to quit anyways. I have insurance that should cover a large portion of my surgery but not all. The 2,500 will help cover my deductible and make the surgery possible. I know that this isn't a dire issue and there are hundreds of causes more worthy of your hard earned money, but I don't know what else to do. I can't stand the thought of losing what I love MOST. And it sure would be nice to sleep through the night for the first time in years. Even if it's just one dollar per person, I will appreciate that to the max!
