Three and a half years ago I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a very treatable but not curable blood cancer. I went through radiation, chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. I was in remission for 10 months and then it came back again. They tried three kinds of chemo before finding one that worked and I eventually went back into remission. They kept me on maintenance chemo and were just getting ready to possibly take me off. But then my cancer marker numbers went up, which was a shock to my doctors and of course myself.
I immediately went to UCSF in San Francisco and they gave me six doses of chemotherapy. That causes your white blood count to go to zero and then you wait for it to come up so you can be released to go home. I was able to come home home for Thanksgiving and then I will return Dec. 1 or 2 and do six more rounds of chemo. I responded really well the first time around and they want to make sure they hit it out of the ballpark. I will be there for about two weeks.
I am a self employed musician and obviously will not be able to work for the rest of the year. At this point I am not sure what insurance is covering or not either.
Some friends encouraged me to set this up and I am trusting God to provide for me.
