Together for Carmina
This is my precious baby niece Carmina, who was diagnosed at 3 months old with Biliary Atresia, a very serious liver disease in infants.
From that day on they’ve run Surgeries and a lot of Studies around México and Spain, on her in hopes to learn what kind of Liver failure she has.
Because of her age, she is not eligible for an operation called “Kasai”, which could’ve helped by giving her more time and get a Liver Transplant later in life.
Today, Carmina is in desperate need of a liver transplant and in hopes she survives. It is truly her last chance at life.
For all these reasons, it’s necessary for them to stay in Spain for several months, in care of this little girl. My brother (her dad) will get tested and hopefully he'll be a Living Donor.
Sadly, Mexico doesn’t count with the means, doctors with enough practice about her physical and weight conditions (less than 22.04 Lb / 10 Kg), nor the equipment.
Even if Mexico would have what is needed, it is very very expensive to do “Live Transplants" there ($250,000 USD approximately, or even more).
Carmina would have to be added to a wait list until, another baby passes so she could get her/his liver, and ONLY IF both babies are compatible.
Carmina and her parents: Eduardo & Carmen, are pleading for any financial support that you can provide now and are in desperate need of all the help they can get, so Carmina can have a second chance.
They are creating a fund which will have the objective of covering the expenses that are generated within the next months in Spain; in the previous time, during the transplant, intensive therapy, intermediate therapy and floor, as well as the time necessary that Carmina needs to remain medical care after being able to achieve her transplant.
Even the time needed to keep Carmina outside Mexico, and have being able to keep her in treatment for some other possible complications.
