Eva's Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected
Hello Family and friends,

Imagine yourself going to the mall, getting your nails done, or picking up food for the family and suddenly you pass out. Imagine tickling your daughter and feeling light headed, or simply laughing hard leaves you breathless. This continues to be Eva's fate. Initially there were countless amounts of testing and blood transfusions with no cure. Initially friends and family thought what was a simple lack of iron, would be all corrected.

Through more tests and more blood doctors were finally able to diagnose this condition as Aplastic Anemia, a rare form of bone marrow failure with a PNH clone that is growing.  This rare condition could be cured through a bone marrow transplant.  However the hard part is finding a donor.  This diagnoses came in December of 2011 and since the search for a donor continued.  Fundraiser, and awareness rallies have been conducted under Carmela's daughter, an organization created to promote awareness of Aplastic Anemia.  Through this awareness and constant fight Eva has found a donor.

Now that the transplant is possible, it is now plagued with financial woes. As many people know, healthcare is not cheap and having an illness in some cases renders you unable to function on a job.  Eva will be out of work for half a year.  This mother of 8 children, will need money to maintain the house, have in home supportive help and feed her family.

All of the donations from this gofundme page will specifically be contributed to:

Housing Facilities - so that she can be close to the hospital for daily visits following transplant (up to 3 months).
In-home medical care - so that she can be monitored daily
Food and care for the children
Hospital parking fees
Funds to cover mortgage and utilities in her current home.
Cleaning services to ensure her environments are sterile.
Any additional expenses that may come up as a result of the transplant.

Surgery is tentatively scheduled for July 2017 Eva will undergo conditioning for the transplant, which is a few days of brutal chemo treatment as well as radiation. After a few days of rest, she will receive the bone marrow transplant at Methodist Hospital in Houston and begin her new life. She is expected to be hospitalized for at least 30 days. She will need to move into housing near Methodist for daily follow-up. Her young children will be at least 45 minutes away from her for at least 3 months.

Eva longs to be able to take long walks without being winded, play with her children without feeling tired, and do all of the normal daily activities that so many of us take for granted.  The hope is that the love in your hearts will encourage you to give. Eva is a fighter, help her fight.
