Carlos Showers Support Fund

Donation protected

On the first of May, one of Chicago's finest and most beloved guitarists was leaving for another high-energy gig at Kingston Mines on Halsted.  As he left home some cowards assaulted Carlos, beating him unconscious and stealing his guitar rig. And the way he makes his living.

Carlos suffered a broken jaw, bone fragmentation in his orbital socket, several lost teeth, and perhaps worst of all, debilitating damage to his left hand. For a guitarist that's as bad as it gets.

Carlos goes into the first of several surgeries on Monday, May 15th. The medical bills are stacking up and he can't earn as he heals.

This is where the international blues community steps in.

Like most blues musicians Carlos never got rich with his guitar, but he's used it to bring pure joy to literally hundreds of thousands of people over the years.

We can't fix the physical damage. We can help the police in their search to bring justice. And we can help Carlos and the state of blues in general by chipping in to replace his equipment, valued at around $5,000, and to support him during his recovery, during which he is unable to perform and earn.

If I could afford a dollar for every time I listened to him absolutely shred 'Hey Joe' and other greats on his guitar I could buy him two myself. I don't, but together we can help right this terrible wrong to a great guy. Please give what you can to help Carlos get back on his feet!
