Carlos’ family needs our help.

Dear friends and family,
Within the past year and a half or so, my brother Carlos Barboza’s health began to deteriorate. Besides diabetes, he developed symptoms which included: dizzy spells, fever, leg weakness (his legs would give out and he would fall to the ground), extremely bad headaches, and excruciating neck pain.

On June 3, 2018, Carlos had an onset of seizures and was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. The next morning, he was transferred to a Fresno hospital. Doctors found an infection in his CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), and are still trying to figure out where the infection is coming from. They have done extensive testing; he’s had numerous MRIs, CT scans, EEGs and lumbar punctures, and today he had a procedure called a cerebral angiogram. Doctors are working hard to make him healthy again, but several of them are calling his case a “mystery,” and they are reaching a point where they’ve done all they can and may have to refer him to a higher level of care.

This has come very unexpectedly, and the past month has been hard on the family not only emotionally, but financially as well. His wife, Beatriz, and their daughters have been paying to stay at a home across the street from the hospital and/or commuting one hour to see him every day. My brother has always been a hard worker and has been the sole provider for his family. His daughters are all going to school, and they only work a seasonal job. It has taken a toll on their lives, but his wife and daughters want to make sure he knows they are with him every day. He and his family have a very difficult time asking for help, and that is why I’m asking on their behalf. Any amount is a blessing to them during this turbulent time.

Prayers are welcomed and very much appreciated, as we firmly believe that God will heal my brother Carlos.♥️

Queridos amigos y familia,

En el último año y medio, la salud de mi hermano Carlos Barboza comenzó a deteriorarse. Además de la diabetes, desarrolló síntomas que incluían: mareos, fiebre, debilidad en las piernas (sus piernas se daban y él caía al suelo), dolores de cabeza extremadamente fuertes y dolor de cuello insoportable.

El 3 de junio de 2018, Carlos tuvo un ataque de convulsiones y fue trasladado en ambulancia al hospital más cercano. A la mañana siguiente, fue trasladado a un hospital de Fresno. Los médicos encontraron una infección en su líquido cefalorraquídeo (LCR) y todavía están tratando de descubrir de dónde viene la infección. Han hecho pruebas exhaustivas; ha tenido numerosas resonancias magnéticas, tomografías computarizadas, EEG y punciones lumbares, y hoy tuvo un procedimiento llamado angiograma cerebral. Los médicos están trabajando arduamente para recuperar su salud nuevamente, pero varios de ellos consideran que su caso es un "misterio", y están llegando a un punto en el que han hecho todo lo que pueden y pueden tener que enviarlo a otro hospital donde le puedan proveer un nivel más alto de atención.  Esto ha llegado inesperadamente, y el mes pasado ha sido duro para la familia no solo emocionalmente sino también financieramente. Su esposa, Beatriz, y sus hijas han estado pagando para quedarse en una casa cerca  del hospital y / o viajan una hora para verlo todos los días. Mi hermano siempre ha sido muy trabajador y ha sido el único proveedor de su familia. Sus hijas van a la escuela y solo trabajan en un trabajo temporal. Esta situación es difícil pero su esposa y sus hijas quieren asegurarse de que él sepa que están con él todos los días. Para la familia es muy difícil  pedir ayuda, y es por eso que estoy pidiendo en su nombre. Cualquier cantidad es una bendición para ellos durante este tiempo turbulento. Las oraciones son bienvenidas y muy apreciadas, ya que creemos firmemente que Dios sanará a mi hermano Carlos. ❤️
