Help me continue my dream at Ailey!

Primero que nada, gracias por su interés en ayudarme a continuar mi sueño. 

Yo soy Carla Arellano, soy una bailarina mexicana y actualmente vivo en la ciudad de Nueva York, cumpliendo con esto mi sueño de estudiar en The Alvin Ailey School. 

Estoy terminando mi segundo semestre y necesito continuar mi entrenamiento profesional por lo menos un año más. La meta de esta campaña cubrirá la colegiatura de los próximos dos semestres. Permanecer en Alvin Ailey me acercará de manera contundente a mi sueño de ser bailarina profesional.


Mi historia con la danza comenzó en la ciudad de Morelia (México) cuando tenía 4 años y entré a la Academia de danza Franck donde permanecí hasta los 17 años, ahí fui examinada exitosamente por la Royal Academy of Dance  y la ISTD , gracias a esta academia tuve la oportunidad de tomar clases con reconocidas bailarinas como Katrina Killian (NYCB) y Joan Mondellini (ISTD).  Ahí participé en diversos montajes y donde obtuve mi primer solo como Clara en el Cascanueces.

A la edad de 12 años tuve la oportunidad de viajar a NY con esta academia para tomar un curso de verano en el Broadway Dance Center  y fue cuando conocí la Escuela Alvin Ailey, desde entonces estar en esta escuela ha sido mi sueño.

Después a la edad de 14 años me otorgaron una beca del 100% para asistir al curso de verano en California en Idyllwild Arts Academy teniendo la oportunidad de tomar clase con Deborah Brockus, Lillian Barbeito, Ronaldo Bowins, entre otros.

A los 16 años, también con la Academia Franck hice otro curso de verano en California, esta vez en Riverside Ballet Arts.

Dos años después, me otorgaron una beca en Brockus Conservatory  donde tuve la oportunidad de tener un entrenamiento pre-profesional durante un año desarrollandome en técnicas de la danza clásica (Vaganova, Cecchetti), Pointe, Contemporáneo, Release, Countertechinque, Limón, Taylor, Horton, Graham, Jazz, Tap, Teatro Musical, etc. Bajo la tutela de Deborah Brockus (Brockus Project), Lillian Barbeito (Bodytraffic), Ronaldo Bowins, Brian Fretté, Gail Adkinson-DeZon y cursando diversas Master Classes con Glenn Edgerton (director artístico de Hubbard Street Dance) y Glenn Sims (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater).


Posterior a este año en Brockus Conservatory, me otorgaron una beca para el curso de verano en Joffrey Ballet School  en la ciudad de NY y regresando a México fui aceptada en la Academia de la Danza Mexicana del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes.

Finalmente en el año 2015 fui aceptada en la Escuela de Alvin Ailey y gracias a la ayuda de mi familia y amigos pude inscribirme durante un año. Tras cursar este año, sigo convencida de que es el entrenamiento correcto para mi desarrollo profesional y por esto es que quiero permanecer por un año más, con su ayuda esto será posible.

First of all I want to thank you for your interest in helping me accomplishing my dream.

My name is Carla Arellano, I am a mexican dancer and currently I am based in New York City, and fulfilling with this, my dream of studying at The Alvin Ailey School .

Now I am finishing my second semester and I need to continue my professional training for at least one year more. The goal of this campaign will cover the tuition for the next two semesters. By continuing my training at Ailey will surely get me closer to become a professional dancer. 


My story with dance began when I was 4 years old in Morelia (México) at the Franck Academy of Dance  where I stayed until I was 17 years old, there I was successfully evaluated by the Royal Academy of Dance  and ISTD . Also there I took master classes with Katrina Killian (NYCB ) y Joan Mondellini (ISTD).  Over the years, I had many performances, highlighting my debut as a soloist as Clara at the Nutcracker. 

At the age of 12, with this academy I had the opportunity of traveling to NYC to do a summer intensive at Broadway Dance Center  and that's when I met The Alvin Ailey School, ever since studying there has been my dream.

Then when I was 14, I was granted a full scholarship for the summer intensive in California at Idyllwild Arts Academy having the opportunity of taking class with Deborah Brockus, Lillian Barbeito, Ronaldo Bowins, among others. At 16, also with the Franck Academy I did the summer intensive at the Riverside Ballet Arts .

Two years later, Brockus Conservatory  granted me a scholarship for a pre-professional training and during a year developing myself in various techniques such as Ballet (Vaganova, Cecchetti), Pointe, Contemporary, Release, Countertechnique, Limon, Taylor, Horton, Graham, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater, etc. Under the training of Deborah Brockus (Brockus Project), Lillian Barbeito (Bodytraffic), Ronaldo Bowins, Brian Fretté, Gail Adkinson-DeZon and Master Classes with Glenn Edgerton (artistic director of Hubbard Street Dance) and Glenn Sims (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater ).


After the year at Brockus Conservatory, I was granted a scholarship for the summer intensive at Joffrey Ballet School  (NYC) and returning to Mexico I was accepted at the Mexican Academy for Dance, part of the National Institute of Fine Arts (Academia de la Danza Mexicana del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes).

Finally in the year of 2015 I was accepted at The Alvin Ailey School and with the help of my family and friends I got enrolled for the first year. After this year I am still convinced that this is the right training for my professional development and this is why I want to stay for another year, with your help this will possible.
