Neither had we until it hit home hard.
Cori has worked at RMR for the past 5 years. She is the first one you see when you walk in and the first one you talk to on the phone. She is a bad ass in so many ways! She is a competitive frisbee champ, a key player in running a multi-million dollar business, and an amazing friend to so many. She understands teamwork and is the definition of a team player, but today we need you to join her team.
For several weeks Cori has been sick, but after many trips to the doctor they couldn't figure out what was going on. Last week, after a few days in the hospital she was given the diagnosis of Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (also known as Wegner's). Wegner's is a super rare chronic autoimmune disease. It can effect the body in different ways which varies from case to case, but in any case it must be addressed quickly to achieve remission.
Because it is such an uncommon condition, hospitals that equipped to treat it effectively are limited. So that she could have the very best doctors working with her Cori as flown to Boston where she will start her treatment today (11/7). Cori does have insurance which will cover a lot of the treatment costs, but as with any insurance there is still a lot of out of pocket expenses she will have to take care of in addition to her living and travel expenses as she's unable to work.
We're asking you to JOIN her team today! Whether you know Cori or you randomly found this shared on someone's social media feed, we would love to have you on the team. Moments like this can be scary and intimidating for anyone, but a solid support group and little financial security can go a long way.
