CARIBBEAN MUSIC NEEDS LUV: HELP FOUR YOUNG VINCENTIAN ARTISTS BE HEARD!

“if you don’t have to think how to survive, you can think how to thrive”

GOAL: $55,000 USD

Interested in helping bring the world some awesome new music from a small island in the Caribbean?

Have you ever heard of the country called St. Vincent & the Grenadines?   It is a new country. only obtained its virgin independence in 1979 from Great Britain.  Located southeast of Barbados, sandwiched between the more well known island country of Barbados, and the major port of Trinidad at the entrance from Central America, the nation of some 24 islands has less than 130,000 residents.  Filled with talent and potential, talented young men and women have little hope for economic freedom. The impoverished ghetto youth finds itself frustrated and stuck in the complicated existence of the ancestors of the West Indies, and Africa, and its tortured history of oppression.

My name is Jenna Jen, I was an attorney for 20 years in San Francisco California.  In January of 2018, I came to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to follow my own dream to live, make art and to help with environmental, economic and social reform in the Caribbean, the region in the Americas that has long been my spiritual home.  On Vincy, a land of mountains and waterfalls near emerald sea, I found a community of like-minded soldiers for truth and artistic freedom. Impressed by the incredible talent and determination of the people of St. Vincent, and was embraced as family by those who were recent strangers and who trusted me to live and work alongside them on this passion project.  I was inspired to dedicate my life to helping find opportunities for these deserving young men and women to share their talent and energy with the world. I have invested my life savings, and then some, in helping develop the LinkUp Vincy project and the www.luv.vc “in luv we trust fund,” to be managed by my St. Croix USVI non-profit company Virgin Independence (www.virginindependence.com) as a means to help find a better way for the ghetto youth through music, beauty, and financial security.  To date, VI has funded D’Termine in producing promoting his first album, the genre defying showcase of music talent for a “Better Way.”  Check it out, and follow @dtermineofficial on IG for updates on new releases from our brother company D’Termine Nation.

LUV MUSIC is the second vehicle to help bring attention to these deserving young talents.

The four exceptional young men I am honored to represent in this request for funding are not poor, they have no money.   And it takes lots of cash money to record, distribute and promote music to the world. There is no economic support for young talent and so all the artists are forced to struggle in day jobs to survive and take care of their families.  I ask you all to help me help them survive, so that they can thrive.

All singer-songwriters hail from the ex-capital of Bagga,  on the main island of St Vincent (“Vincy” or ‘784), where they grew as part of a talented community referred to as “3 yard” which is located in the country on the leeward side of the small island. Each artist has a unique story and distinct artistic vision.  I invite you to listen to samples of their original songs by clicking on the photos for each artist below, and by visiting their or downloading music for purchase at the links provided on our team website www.linkupvincy.com.

LUV MUSICIANS

PREZ GAMBINO

Born Akene Keizer in Kingstown St. Vincent,  Prez, as he is known, developed his love for hip hop when he lived in the USA as a teenager.  Prez returned to his native home of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to spend time with his daughter and to help develop a hip-hop movement.  In short time, the gifted young rapper also became popular within the more traditional Vincy genres of soca and dancehall country due to his intelligent and witty lyrics, deep vocabulary and unique spin on the traditional forms.  A consummate performer, Prez rose quickly in the esteem of the major producers and artists in SVG and Jamaica appearing in showcases of local talent and opening for international stars like Movado, Barrington Levy, R & B Singer Mario, Allison Hinds, Bunji Garlon & Fayann Lyons, Peter Ram, Machel Montana and Kevin Lyttle who have respect for the amazing skills of the rapper.  As an established artist in St. Vincent, and due to his laser like focus on improving the quality of music from and life in St. Vincent, Prez was a logical choice for Virgin Independence to tap to be President of LUV MUSIC. Prez brings considerable experience and talent to the LUV music movement and is the proud papa within the growing stable of talented LinkUp Vincy artists ready to shock the world with their music and message.  In addition to resources to run LUV MUSIC and advance the dreams of many who have not had any opportunity to have their music heard internationally, Prez seeks funding to complete, distribute and promote his new album--recently recorded with at GeeJam Studios in Jamaica. Check out Prez on Instagram and SoundCloud and help LUV Hip Hop magic happen.

MOONSKULL

Lenox Francis is a Vincentian musician that goes by the name Moonskull, but we call him Mooney in the yard.  Inspired to write music at a very early age, but in a community with little emphasis on the arts as a means to financial security,  he never thought he would be able to make a life for himself through his art. With a voice like an angel, Mooney offers a versatile and unique blend of hip-hop, reggae, dance hall and uplifting R&B vibes (and SOCA too!)  A moon amongst stars, Mooney represents the very ghetto youth that LUV is motivated to support reach his dreams. This young man is in need of money to get to talented producers of music throughout the world. He is prepared and ready to illuminate the world with his out-of-this world skills, mad street vibes, and trademark good humor (“hey hey hey”).  He is something of a ladies man in the making as well! Despite facing incredible obstacles and with a hard life behind him at just 23, Moonskull’s pure raw talent, love for music and dedication to spreading his message has kept alive his passion for writing and producing great music. Help Mooney rise out of the ghetto, help this youth bring us the amazing lyrics and beats that burn inside him ready to be unleashed on the world.   Check him out on his social media https://www.instagram.com/moonskullofficial/

KEITH CURRENCY

WHAT A BAM BAM!  Keith Currency is a star in St. Vincent--a certified singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, comedian and entertainer from Barrouallie where he was inspired by music at a very young age.  Keith is an all around team player for LUV and sits on the board of nonprofit Virgin Independence www.virginindependence.com.  Keith has been selected for Soca Monarch six times and in 2013, was awarded Best New Artist of the year.  Keith’s smooth style mixes all the international vibes including SOCA, dancehall, hip-hop, rap, and R&B, and when combined with his dance moves---he is a popular crowd pleaser.  Keith recently recorded his new album, with Dale Virgo of DZL Records in Jamaica and is in need of funding to help complete the album, advertise and distribute to the world. Check out Keith’s music on Spotify, or on his official social media and support Currency with cash.

101 STUNNA

101 Stunna was born Samron Guy and raised in the peaceful village of Barrouallie, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.  Stunna grew up rough, losing both parents at a young age. But he was inspired by music and wrote his first song at the early age of fifteen.  His intense focus, deep african toned voice, love of power, ragga and jab jab soca, along with his burning desire propelled him forward and give him the confidence and drive to create great original and ancestral music that everyone can relate to.  101 is a true Soca master and works hard to reach his dream of spinning his unique style into a SOCA Monarch title at Vincy Mas Carnival this summer. Follow his stunning run for Soca Monarch on social media and official website (links below) and support this young man reach his goal to take the music world by storm--and capture the King title this Taurus deserves.   The countdown begins on April 21, 2019-- Stunna’s 30th birthday.
