C.A.R.E.4Senegal: Dance in Africa

At Culture4MyKids, Inc. our mission is to empower young people with the ability to take control of their education and their future. Our organization works with families, schools and community centers all over the city of Richmond. We implement programs that use cultural arts to connect with and make a significant impact on the youth. Servicing approximately 500-1,000 youth each year, C4MK is able to give an empowering voice to urban youth. By understanding the past, our students are able to gain appreciation of their diverse origins which allows them to build/re-build a positive self-image and create a more solid future. We pride ourselves in building life long relationships with the families that we serve. This year, we are proud to launch our C.A.R.E. program from our middle and high school students.

                                     C.A.R.E. 

C. - Cultural awareness: Every other year, a new country will be chosen. Over a ten month period, the children will be introduced to the language, dress, food and customs of the country. They will also engage in video chats with families from the country who share similar interests.

A.- Artistic Expression: The children will engage in dance and music classes relevant to the country, here in the states as well as with prominent musicians in that country.

R. - Reciprocity: Upon arriving to the country, the children involved in the program will share their talents by teaching the children in the chosen country what they know ( language, business, any skill that may be beneficial to that child)

E. Edutainment: Upon arriving to the new country, the children involved will also get to visit historic sites, museums and other tours set up in conjunction with the chosen country's embassy.
