Care for Jim

On November 5th my husband, Jim, was riding his bicycle like he did every Saturday. An 18 year old was driving 80mph... swerving in and out of traffic when he lost control of his car, striking another automobile which in turn struck Jim. He was rushed to Baylor Hospital, had an emergency surgery to fuse his 3rd and 4th vertabrae together. The following Thursday, Jim had to endure another 5 hour surgery to reconstruct his 5th vertabrae. The doctors determined at that time he would be a quadriplegic. He remained in ICU for 18 days before being released to Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation, where he will stay until January 14, 2017. We have come to the realization that Jim will need extensive care once he is released to go home.  He will need a certified care giver around the clock, the home will have to be refit to accomodate his wheelchair and we are forced to look for wheelchair accessible transportation to take Jim to his doctors appointments. Should you be so moved, any donation made to this account will go to his care.

I want to thank everyone that had been praying for my sweet husband Jim. The Lord is hearing your prayers and working miracles each day. I think most of you know that he has no feeling from the chest down after a car hit him while he was doing what he loved to do most...riding his bicycle. He is currently in rehab and we don't know how long we will be there. But we have realized that he will need extensive care once he is released. We will also have to refit our home to meet his needs.
