Cardwell Family Flood Recovery Fund

My parents, Robert and Karen Cardwell, just had their home of 30+ years flooded during the storms in Socorro, NM on 10/5/17. They are going to need financial aid to rebuild or move; they do not have any home insurance to cover. The downstairs area that was flooded the worst was full of all our family memorabilia. Understandably, my mother is devastated but we are happy that they are both okay. My mother has been an employee of Walmart for 10+ years. My parents will have been married now for 42 years this coming November. They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. The oldest of their children is their only son, who is a US Army Vet, currently residing in Germany. Including myself who lives in CA, they have three daughters, the other two of which reside in NM. My father built half of their home himself, turning a small 3-bedroom trailer into a 4-bedroom house for my siblings and me to grow up in. Not only was their home flooded but so was my father’s work shop with all his wood working machines and equipment. Everything they own they have worked hard for and have had for a long time, taking care of and preserving it all. This is devastating to our family and any help would be greatly appreciated.
