According to the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer in the United States. Approximately 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime and everyday, new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed. Until a cure is found, this cancer will continue to destroy lives. But we at Wesleyan University care. In an effort to support individuals and their families as they battle this disease, Wesleyan students have partnered with Middlesex Hospital to organize the 1st Annual Cardinal Community Classic, benefiting the hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Center. Middlesex Hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Center’s multidisciplinary team provides patients with “advanced breast cancer treatment technology, comprehensive diagnostic procedures and compassionate care.”
The Cardinal Community Classic is a 3 vs 3 basketball tournament that aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and raise funds to support individuals affected by it in our local community. Teams 16 and up are encouraged to participate. This event will be a fun and informative day benefiting not only patients, but our community as a whole. We believe this event and your generous donations will touch the lives of those most affected in the greater Middletown community. Along with partnering with Middlesex Hospital, this tournament is designed with the overarching goal of fostering a better sense of community between Wesleyan students and Middletown residents as we come together to support individuals affected by this disease.

Register your team by April 8th to secure a spot!
If you cannot make it to the tournament or are not interested in playing as part of a team but would still like to support this cause we ask that you consider donating to help us reach our goal of $5,000! Every donation counts and will go towards supporting individuals being treated at the center in Middlesex Hospital. We thank you in advance for your generosity and for partnering with us.
